ACP is under threat. Partner to build community owned Internet networks.

ACP (the Affordable Connectivity Program) is helpful, but lasting change requires fundamental systemic change. That is why Broadband Institute is getting ready to launch a platform cooperative that goes beyond online courseware to include “Social Learning.” We are using LearnDash as our learning management system, and the BuddyBoss platform to create a community membership site. People can join social groups, which each include one or more courses and link to a discussion forum. This crowd sources some aspects of the learning. It also promotes horizontal, communication and collaboration, rather than a top down approach. Membership consists of three types: students, teachers, and group leaders (who will hold study sessions for the students). All of our courses will be licensed as Creative Commons and the platform co-op will be governed by those who become teachers. If you would like to participate in our beta, please complete a request  to become a partner.
